چکیده

This paper presents TKDM, a PC-based high-performance reconfigurable computing environment. The TKDM hardware consists of an FPGA module that uses the DIMM (dual inline memory module) bus for high-bandwidth and low-latency communication with the host CPU. The system’s firmware is integrated with the Linux host operating system and offers functions for data communication and FPGA reconfiguration. The intended use of TKDM is that of a dynamically reconfigurable co-processor for data streaming applications. The system’s firmware can be customized for specific application domains to facilitate simple and easy-to-use programming interfaces. keywords: co-processor, DIMM module, data streaming

A Novel Reconfigurable Co-Processor Architecture

Back-end processors have been conventionally used for speeding up of only a specific set of compute intensive functions. Such co-processors are, generally, "hardwired" and cannot be used for a new function. In this paper, we discuss the design considerations and parameters of a general purpose reconfigurable co-processor. We also propose architecture of such a co-processor and discuss its imple...

Reconfigurable co-processor for Kanerva's sparse distributed memory

The implementation on hardware of the first layer of Kanerva’s sparse distributed memory (SDM) is presented in this work. The hardware consist on a co-processor board for connection on ISA standard bus of an IBM–PCcompatible computer. The board, named reconfigurable co-processor for SDM(RC-SDM), comprises on Xilinx FPGAs, local random access memory and bus interface circuits. Based on in-system...

Hardware-software co-simulation of bus-based reconfigurable systems

One of the most flexible and modular approaches to reconfigurable systems is a bus-based approach. In order to get realistic performance estimates of these systems, detailed modeling of the processor as well as the bus and memory hierarchy is required. In addition, when coupling one or more reconfigurable units with a superscalar, out-of-order issue, load/store RISC CPU using the on-chip system...

Interface Synthesis using Memory Mapping for an FPGA Platform

Several system-on-chip (SoC) platforms have recently emerged that use reconfigurable logic (FPGAs) as a programmable co-processor to reduce the computational load on the main processor core. We present an interface synthesis approach that enables us to do hardware-software codesign for such FPGA-based platforms. The approach is based on a novel memory mapping algorithm that maps data used by bo...

A High Performance Parallel IP Lookup Technique Using Distributed Memory Organization and ISCB-Tree Data Structure

The IP Lookup Process is a key bottleneck in routing due to the increase in routing table size, increasing traıc and migration to IPv6 addresses. The IP address lookup involves computation of the Longest Prefix Matching (LPM), which existing solutions such as BSD Radix Tries, scale poorly when traıc in the router increases or when employed for IPv6 address lookups. In this paper, we describe a ...
